This state belongs to the west region. It has the geological formation of the Grand Canyon, that`s why is recognized as "The Grand Canyon State". It is also known as ¨The Cooper State¨ for its fabulous mineral wealth and the fact that it`s very rich in cooper.
The UNESCO declared the Grand Canyon of the Colorado Patrimony of the Humanity in 1979. The Canyon was created by the Colorado River, whose channel undermined the land for millions of years. It is about 446 km long, has ridges between 6 and 29 km wide and more depths of more than 1600 m. The great depth of the Grand Canyon and, especially, the height of its strata, the elevation that began to take place about 65 million years ago.
Phoenix is the capital. Other important cities are Tucson, Yuma, Mesa, etc. it has a population of 6 millions in habitants. The latin population is more than 1 million in habitants.
There is a native Indian population that settle down in the reserve areas. They are the Navajos and Apaches. Spanish language is spoken by its border situation with Mexico.
The weather is warn and nice the whole year. There are festivals the whole year in Arizona. Among them you can attend to downtown Mesa Festival of the Arts, Ligths of the World, Scottdazzle, the 47th Annual Tumacacori Party, etc.
